Challenges for Future Networked Embedded Systems

چکیده

In this white paper we examine the direction research in embedded networks might take. We first discuss the technological drivers for the advent of ubiquitous computing and communication, which will spawn a myriad of networked embedded systems. Next we examine the nature of these networked systems in contrast to the classical telecommunication and data networks. We then argue that a number of new research issues need to be addressed. We discuss the work that is going on in the Dutch PROGRESS research programme on embedded systems in this context and draw some conclusions.
